dog (not butt) of the week: special expanded great pupkin edition

the first fall that stephen and i lived in this neighborhood, we were at the farmer's market on halloween weekend when we started to notice that all the dogs (there's always a ton of dogs at the farmer's market) had costumes on. at first i just thought "okay, overzealous dog owners", but then we noticed that they were all congragating on the hill over in the park. so, of course, we had to investigate, and oh man, thank god we did. we discovered one of our top ten reasons we're glad we live here: the great pupkin. a dog costume contest. check it out:

i don't think peanut will ever experience another naked halloween. and yoda is so my favorite. if i have a baby i will dress it like that most of the time.

Yoda was awesome, the arms made the costume. My winner was the Flying Monkey from The Wizard of Oz. DO you think Peanut would stand for a costume?

Um I LOVE yoda with Oscar the Grouch being a close second. Really? Why dyes their dogs fur!

oscar's owner was telling everyone that it was non-toxic dye, totally safe..... i loved oscar and was amazed that he didn't come in in the top three.

i think peanut would put up with a costume, as long as it wan't too cumbersome and she was still able to goose people. she would make a great tootsie roll or mr. hanky.
